A Passover of Lies

April Spencer
The Passover is a Jewish holiday that is observed for eight days straight during the beginning of spring. This time is often called by the torah as Nissan. To the Jews and Christians a like, this festive time represents freedom and deliverance.

During this Passover, The first and last day no work is to be done and Jews refrain from eating leavened bread during this eight day period.

However, the history that caused the focus of this eight day celebration to shift took place around 1450 BC. Supposedly, The Israelites somehow landed in slavery among the Egyptians. The Israelites were treated poorly by the Egyptians. They were also oppressed, neglected, abused, and starved. According to legend, the Egyptians discovered that the Hebrew nation was over populating and so the Pharaoh had to take control before the Hebrews became powerful enough to take over. The bible states that through one man facing the Pharaoh, these Israelite slaves were set free.

The truth is that there have never been any records of slaves in Egypt. The Egyptians were very careful with their record taking. The Pharaoh himself would often have his own stories inscribed on the palace walls. Still, somehow this myth of the Israelites being treated poorly and enslaved by the Egyptians has survived in spite of the lack of proof. The Pharaoh most certainly could not have "missed" recording such a spectacular event.

On January 10, 2010 a new truth was unraveled like a present on Christmas morning. Near Cairo, there was a worker's tomb that was unearthed. The grave revealed a worker who was well taken cared of and given items that were important for the afterlife. If this Hebrew man really was a slave, why would Egyptians go through such an effort to bury him with anything for the afterlife?

The burial certainly was not from a Jew, because Jews do not have a belief in needing objects in the afterlife. Therefore, logics tell us this was an Egyptian burial. The way this worker was buried clearly tells us that the Hebrew's were not treated as poorly as the Bible says they were. Historically speaking, during those times there was a country and then states that belonged to countries, according to Professor Rick Frieidman. The land of Canaan where the Israelites were originally from was a state to the Egyptians. That is the only way that the biblical statement" Israel were slaves to Egypt" could be true. But as far as oppression, there was no such thing.

Due to this misrepresentation and judgment upon an innocent country, I find the Passover to be a representation of lies. To me, the Passover is a reminder of the many immoral issues that have been presented in the bible. I could see a Passover for the holocaust because that was real and there is historical record. The next time someone decides to put a book together and call it truth they should really consider doing some historical research and make sure it's the "God's" honest truth.

  • Egypt never enslaved the isreal.
  • "Enslavement" is based on a technicality.
Evidence stands for itself. A burial site has proven the story to be a hoax.

I jsut cannot stand for a religion that holds more blood on thier hands than any other. Don't get me wrong. it was an assignement and i was willing to accept it but I wanted to get the truth out. I wont sugar coat things. I stand for truth and nothing else.

having something against god is like having something against the tooth fairy or the invisible man.I dont see the point to it?however being against the "church" another thing .If i or we think about what god is i cant help believe that it is a name given to what is unknown and that i dont understand like the big bang and existence itself.look how absurd life is ...especially human life .I don't know where i am going with this but I persoanlly wouldn't mind seeing this world get reverted back to cosmic goo ...at least we all would be united .

I haven othing against the torah. However it is mostly an exaggerated truth. I do have alot against the "god" who suposedly created this world and I am out to prove he is wrong. perhaps as a writer I will lose credibility, but If the truth is spoken and pointless meaningless bloodshed is prevented because I spoke the truth and was willing to go find the truth then it was all worth it. The pen is mightier than the sword. Now, as far as that news story, I believe it because its more proof that I have seen then the other side has given. :D But than kyou for your comments!

if there wasn't oppression then why would they flee?
the new testament is very flawed ,there are so many books that were omitted and plus you have people with different motives but the first book the Torah has slowly been proven to be true .
I dont think you should be depending on 1 news story that you cant really check out for yourself .
Its like the news telling us this new diet is am mirracle or drinking beer is good for you .so there is a few slaves tombs where are the rest?

In I am not an expert but in that type of society everyone had to do what the pharaoh wanted .Its basically a dictatorship ...if you look at dictatorships we have and had you will see its influence in art writing etc...
you will find with all the record keeping there is very little devoted to jews and other slaves.

we all dont know the facts .we wern't there but if you are open i will help research as much truth that is out there with you.
what do you consider a slave is?

If somebody took away your right to religious choice made you work everyday and you werent allowed to leave would that make you a slave??
