A Past Generation's Evil

My heart aches with such sorrow

At the sight of all this vice!

Like a savage's arrow,

Clean through my chest does it slice!

This happened well before my time,

But it grieves me just the same;

Deep in my bones, this ghastly crime

Sears my marrow like a flame.

Is it possible for me

To commit such gruesome deeds?

Could a barbarian be

Within, ready to sow his seeds?

Could I, Amanda Dollak,

Have this evil within me-

For my soul to be charred black

As to quell others' liberty?
