A Personal Experience: What Eliminating Red Meats and Pork from My Diet Has Done for Me

Doing Away with Certain Meats Can Have a Great Impact on Your Over-All Health

I am the type of person who can lose weight as fast as I gain it. Any and everything that I eat shows literally. I can look at a bowl of ice cream and gain 5 pounds. Just kidding, but it is almost true. It's not always in the junk food though. I say this because I am not much on junk food with the exception of uhm "that time of the month chocolate craving". Other then that, it's every once in a blue moon that I indulge in junk food. I said all of that to say this... it's not always the junk food.

We do need protein that comes from meats. Don't get me wrong, I love steak and sausage, but it doesn't like me. I am not one to really fry a lot either. For the most part I grill all of my meat, even red meats and pork. I still decided to eliminate them from my diet all together, just to see if it works.

I can say that I feel a lot better. It has been about a month since I have had any red meats and with the exception of a couple BLT's, pork as well. I feel more energetic and I am starting to have more energy as well. I don't feel as groggy and I don't have as many headaches.

I grill chicken breasts 95% of the time. I eat a lot of salads with dressings that have hardly any calories or fat. I highly recommend the Light Raspberry Vinaigrette with Extra Virgin Olive Oil for a dressing. Speaking of oils, I never use anything other then Canola or Olive oil for any of my cooking. When I grill I use Canola spray oil.

Along with removing these meats from my diet, I have switched to wheat bread and brown rice as well. I steam vegetables use a minimum amount of butter. I eat a total of about 4 eggs a week. I have switched to decaf coffee as well. I don't know if four eggs a week or using sugar in my coffee all the time is good, but that may need to be eliminated next.

Being active is a part of maintaining your health and weight. I don't have a hard time losing weight. It's when it is lost that I have a hard time keeping it that way. This is how I have always been and this is the reason why I am trying to find a good steady diet that I feel comfortable with. Along with this diet that is even healthy and good for my kids, I am also going to begin using a utility bench and excercise the old fashioned way. The way that I have in times past. Good ol' scrunches and sit-ups along with lifting and a lot of leg exercises. Brisk pace walking is also something that I will do when the weather warms up.

If you are like me and find it both easy to lose and gain weight, then try removing certain meats, oils, calories and fats from your diet and excercise often.
