A Personal Touch: Homemade Baby Shower Favors

To add that personal, homey touch to any baby shower, consider making handmade baby shower favors. Not only will you have fun with this arts and crafts project, but you'll also have some personalized favors to impress your guests!

Personalized Baby Favor Tags:

Before even considering your baby shower favors, maybe take into account whether or not you want personalized baby favor tags. This gives the mom-to-be a chance to express personal things about the baby, too. For example, if they already have a name picked out, then you can always put that on there as well as the expected due date, the names of the parents, and the date of the baby shower. If you really wanted to personalize it a little more, you could always add a nice picture of the pregnant mother where you can see her stomach, so you've got a picture of the mother and baby.

For the favor tags, there are a slew of non-copyrighted pictures that you could use if you don't want to use a personal one. However, remember to make sure your use does not violate the terms of use. Also, for a nice touch you could consider adding borders from Microsoft Word.

Love Grows Seed Pouch:

There are many ways to approach this, but probably the easiest way is using cardstock with fabric glued to it. What you'll need for this are some manila cardstock (or even manila folders to cut out of), some different colored fabric, glue (a hot glue gun would work best), and some flower seed packets.

The purpose of this is that the center of each handmade flower there will be a little thing that says "Love grows" (can be either printed and glued or handwritten on) and in the flower there will be some seeds, so that the guests can plant and grow their own flowers as the baby grows.

First, decide on a flower shape. I would recommend something simple like a daisy. Then cut this shape out of both the cardstock and the fabric. Cut a second out of the cardstock and tape the edges of the two cardstock pieces together, leaving a gap at the top to put the seeds in. Then glue the fabric on the very top of the first cardstock and put your message in the center of the "flower".

To finish, punch a hole in the very top and loop a thread through and tie it. This will hold the seeds inside and add a nice finish. For a little extra flare, add a personal tag on this ribbon as well.
