A Perspective on the War on Terrorism: America Is at War

Rant Time and regular scheduled programming will continue when the RANT is over.

WE ARE AT WAR.

Does everyone understand this?

Let me start with the points I think everyone can agree on. Men OR women that hi jack planes and crash them into buildings that are full of innocent people are terrorists.

Can we all agree on that much?

Men OR women that fire missiles from civilian populations and hide behind women and children are bad.

Can we also agree on that?

Men or women that strap bombs to their bodies so that they can kill as many innocent people are suicide bombers and are also bad.

Are we all still on the same page here?

This is our enemy. This is who we fight in our war on terror.

WE ARE AT WAR.

I believe our country is a GREAT country and I am proud to be an American. Inscribed on the Statue of Liberty is a sonnet by Emma Lazarus called "The New Colossus". Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame, With conquering limbs astride from land to land; Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame. "Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!" We welcome immigrants to come here and make a life for themselves, we offer them that opportunity. They need to do it legally though because WE ARE AT WAR and we must know who is entering our country...it is that simple in my mind.

There are countries that sponsor terror, the aid terrorists, the give them money and weapons to KILL AMERICANS and they must be stopped....why?

Because WE ARE AT WAR. As recently as August 2006, our enemies, the terrorists planned to blow up more planes coming from London to the US in an attack that would have killed more people than the 9/11 attack did.

WE ARE STILL AT WAR.

We can quit, walk away and sit back and wait for the next attack on our soil or we can continue on the offensive and fight these monsters where we find them BEFORE they can commit another act of mass murder on our soil.

Which option do you support?

As recently as January 2007, al-Qaeda members were found in Somalia with AMERICAN PASSPORTS, is there anyone that believes they had those passports because they wanted to sight see here in America? No? That's right...... their intentions have been stated and are known.

WE ARE AT WAR. Whether you agree that we should have invaded iraq or not, we did...it is done. Does anyone doubt that there is al-Qaeda members in Iraq right now? Does anyone doubt that al-Qaeda is there to kill American and Coalition forces?

Iran is supplying Iraq militias with weapons and there have been arrests of Iranians that entered Iraq illegally. Those weapons are used to kill our soldiers....... has anyone who is reading this missed that news... if so, follow the links, it was in the news. Now Iran wants to expand its "role" in Iraq....

New evidence of Iran's role in Iraq will be made in Baghdad by the chief spokesman for the multinational forces in Iraq, Major General William Caldwell. The Directorate of National Intelligence worked over the weekend to clear new intelligence and information that sources inside the intelligence community said would implicate Iran in deliberately sending particularly lethal improvised explosives to terrorists to kill coalition soldiers.

WE ARE AT WAR I am not going to blame one party or the other for the attack on 9/11 which killed approximately 3,000 people, blame is a waste of time.....WE WERE ATTACKED, here at home and we must fight back with every fiber of our beings, so that it does not happen again.

Does anyone disagree with that assessment?

Why do we have to succeed in Iraq and Afghanistan?

BECAUSE WE ARE AT WAR and to show weakness, to retreat in defeat from this or any battle with extremists will encourage our enemies to attack us again, knowing full well that our response will be limited to what is easy, what is cheap and we will quit if the fight gets hard or takes too long.

We are a good country, we are a brave country and we need our enemies to understand WE WILL NOT QUIT and we will not fail.

The LA Times has an op-ed piece asking "Was 9/11 really that bad?" STUPID QUESTION.

Yes, it was...if you are suggesting that we should not react unless we lose 20 million people Mr. Bell, then you Sir, are worse than a court jester. I suggest you ask the victims families if we have over reacted.

WE ARE AT WAR

Either we continue to take the fight to these terrorists or start building bomb shelters again and prepare ourselves to live our lives simply waiting for the next attack.

Political game playing needs to end and as a country we need to stand up and say NO, we will not retreat, we will not be defeated, we will not surrender. We will fight and we will succeed because we are AMERICA.
