A Pioneer Day Haiku Poem

Snow-covered Ridges (A Poem in Memory of the Pioneers)

Cindy Lynn
Pioneer Day, which takes place on July 24, is a Utah state holiday. It's celebrated with parades and festivities all over the state. This particular Pioneer Day haiku poem was written in honor of those courageous souls of the Martin Handcart Company, who crossed the plains and were trapped in winter weather at Martin's Cove, Wyoming.

Snow-covered Ridges

Walking snow-covered ridges
Souls worn to a shine
