Jean Wilson, who was alone in her house, probably started her day like any other with her usual routine. She would take care of things around her house and then order her large pepperoni pizza from Domino's a little before lunch. This was the same thing she had done every day for three years.
But Ms. Wilson was taken by surprise when she fell in her home and was unable to get up. Not only that, but she found she couldn't get to a phone to call for help, and no one could hear her when she cried out. Not expecting anyone to visit, her situation looked bleak.
Susan Guy, a delivery driver for Domino's Pizza, had delivered Ms. Wilson's pizza and become friendly with her over her many deliveries. When she arrived at work on Monday, February 21, 2011, Susan realized that Ms. Wilson had not ordered her usual pepperoni that day.
When Susan consulted her boss, he confirmed that it had been three days and no order from Ms. Wilson. Since Ms. Wilson had become such a regular customer, the local Domino's often had prepared the large pie for delivery even before she called, but with a brisk weekend business, one missing order could have been overlooked easily.
Susan Guy then told her boss that she was concerned about Ms. Wilson and was going to go by her house to check on her. When Susan arrived, she knocked on Ms. Wilson's door, but there was no answer. Going next door she consulted with a neighbor who acknowledged they had not seen her lately either. It was then that Susan called 911 and explained the situation.
When the police arrived, they found Ms. Wilson lying in the floor of her house where she had fallen on Saturday. An ambulance was called, and Jean Wilson was transported to the hospital where she is doing much better now thanks to a concerned Susan Guy and her love of Domino's pepperoni pizza.
