A New Place

And Unanswered Questions

Louisa Burgess

How did I get here
it's extraordinary that I arrived
in this place so different
so alien in climate and
habits
Very few that I know
even less than I imagined
strangers around me
roads I don't know and
highways
Land that is flat and dry
almost barren yet not
houses with faces I don't recognize
and speech patterns that sound
foreign
What brought me here
to this place I don't know
will it ever feel like home
or will it always be different yet
good.
