A Place in the Deep

April Higney
There is a place, in the deep,
behind tears, for happiness to keep.

There is a place, in the hollow,
corners of loving memories, beyond the sorrow.

There is a place, in the mind,
of the things up ahead, after the pain is left behind.

There is a place, in the soul
after walls crumble, rebuilt of open windows, an open door,
whereupon so much may have been taken away,
opening then replenishing with something more.

There is a place, in the heart
after it's felt torn apart, that still somehow holds tight,
whereupon its fallen on the wrong,
yet still holding the strength to follow what is right.

A place when tears, when hollow,
when in pain, when in sorrow,
a place when walls crumble, after the feeling of being torn apart,
a place,
a place in the deep, for happiness to keep,
a place in the corners of loving memories,
a place rebuilding, opening windows, opening doors,
a place replenishing with something more,
a place that grasps hold of the heart tight,
still strong enough to follow what is right.
There is a place,
a place, in the deep.
