A Place to Turn

Teri Bethel
"Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me by Your generous Spirit" (Psalm 51:12).

When you've poured out your all
And given your best shot,
When you've considered the alternative
Of simply giving up-

When the road you've trekked
Becomes harder each day,
When the light in the darkness
Seems farther away-

When your heart is so full
You feel it erupt,
When it's contents spew forth
Exposing fruit that's corrupt-

When you turn to a mirror
And the image you see, is
The desolate windows
Of a person called me-

When your efforts are spent
Dying to survive;
When there's no help in sight
And you're scarcely alive-

There's a place to turn
Where you can stand,
As the Holy Spirit helps you to
Unveil God's awesome plan.

Never once were you alone,
Despite what you felt;
Your pathway was forged
By the words which were dealt.

Take another look if you will;
Breathe deep, from inside.
It was by God's immeasurable grace
You were able to survive.

How could He leave you?
His child He could not deny,
If you turn to Him now
You'll see He's still at your side.

Though words have condemned you,
You now speak life.
They will forge a new passage
As a bold eagle in flight.

Don't wait until you're hurting
Or in need of a friend,
Praise Him with all you've got
That's where He's resident.

    Teri, you picked one of my favorite scriptures. Your poem is absolutely wonderful! The graphic: Is it a book you wrote?

    God's love is always there. An unconditional example we should strive to follow.
