A Pledge, a Prayer

When sunset falls upon our friendship
I will wait for the sunrise
to gather the bits and pieces left
including the dull moments, for it
to refresh my memories.

Over the time elapsed
Christ inside you lighted my path
Indeed!
you became "the light," "the salt,"
an angel from God's staff.

Whether or not we part ways
or stumble as we journey
or fail our resolve to obey
together, if not in flesh
our spirits won't sway.

Surely,
in every moment of darkness
a single spark glitters
for those who believe in earnest
that God at all times remembers.

Early in our youth
God anointed us with fervor love
He gave us the burden to care
He made us feel to be always
an essential part of His divine will.
