The memory is vague
but yet so clear
I became a citizen
that one year
but yet so clear
I became a citizen
that one year
I was nervous and excited
the court was so strange
I was really quite happy
my life was to change
I sat, parents beside me
listening to the judge
I was getting so nervous
that my body wouldn't budge
I stood for the Pledge
my voice proud and true
I spoke so very strongly
the words I clearly knew
I shook the judge's hand
and then heard him say
"You are now a citizen
of the U.S.A."
