A Poem is Forever

Stephen Joltin
Willows bend with the wind.
I don't.
Stones roll along the bottom of the river.
I stand my ground.
Rock becomes pebbles.
Pebbles become sand.
Sand becomes dust.
Dust blows away.
I keep my edge after all these years.
Diamond hard I will not yield.
You will not pass by me.
I guard the gate.
The gate is locked.
