I held on tight,
Refusing to release them.
But the feeling crept into my bones-
It was time to let go.
I have been given all of these chances
And I swore that I would make it work.
I imagine I am making the best of it,
But I know that I could do better.
The hours made their impressions,
I tallied them in my little book of joy suppression.
I had oppressed my own soul.
Now, I see that I am powerful in ways
I am just beginning to understand.
Inside of me the light is growing.
I can feel it.
I am finished extinguishing it with my old vices.
Now, I dance like a child of the universe-
A moving, breathing free-spirit
Reveling in countless blessings.
All of the things that I have craved are gone on.
I am through craving and pining and wanting.
I have all I could ever dream.
What more could I want?
