A Poem on Learning About a Loved One's Death

No!

Allana Calhoun
It hits her like a hammer
she's taken by surprise
she wishes somebody would slap her
to make sure it wasn't a dream

Her ears have done deaf
her eys suddenly blind
her mind reels in realization
that somebody died

Anger and fear fill her heart
and a single word echoes in her mind
she feels it form on her lips
and then hears herself shout No!

She runs from the room
tears flowing from her eyes
she still can't accept it
she says it has to be a lie

But it's definitely true
and it's not going to go away
with slow sensations
she accepts the truth and pain

If you've ever experienced it
you know that it hurts
sometimes its hard to
know what to do

Denial is normal
but don't be afraid
to acccept what is true
and to feel the pain

Very intense, "she wishes that somebody would slap her"-sounds like being in a daze.

Great poem...having experienced the death of both parents, I really felt this one.

Nice job as always, I think the feelings really come out in this one.
