A Poem for Mom

Amy Harvey
That day I was born of your womb
Not knowing what life was about
Not having a care to care about
All I had was you smiling at me
The world stood still right then

Growin' up had become a task
I struggled to complete I admit
Always the wrong kind of choices
Always a fight from as a result
We did not get along at that point

Like a roller coaster
We had good loops and bad
One minute we laughed
The other minute we screamed
We came out on top it would seem

From bumps and bruises
To tears and bad choices
I always knew you were there
Watching, waiting, and needing
For me to grow out of your arms

The truth is this, Mom
From being a baby
Now to being an adult
Life without you around me
Equals being kicked in the dirt

You are a great mother
I know we have had times
When life wasn't so great
But let's look at the good stuff
For the rest does not even rate!

Happy Mother's Day, Mom
From the bottom of my heart
I hope it is a great day
And you get what you want
I love you!
