The day we met, I don't recall,
Our first embrace is lost to me.
I don't remember our first kiss,
In fact most of our firsts are yours to keep.
But, I do remember Mother dear,
A thousand other wonderful things;
Your gentle kiss on my grazed knee,
Your loving arms when that boy didn't call me.
Throughout the years you've been my strength,
My pride, my role model, my greatest friend.
All the firsts, all the lasts and all the inbetweens,
I thank you Mum for taking care of me.
So, on this day that is all yours,
I hope another memory we can create,
A shining moment to hold in our hearts,
That will keep us strong through all the twists of fate.
I love you Mum. A simple phrase,
That holds a lifetime of respect and love,
Through all our ups and downs and blazing rows,
That never has and never will, change.
