A Poem of Prayer and Praise

Kristin Hawkins
Although the roots of this holiday
seem to all be quite manmade
We all cannot help but still to say,
"Praise the Lord to whom we prayed!"

The morning sun rises to display
another newness of life conveyed.
Again it's a chance to live this day,
so let's praise the Lord to whom we prayed!

These songs are sung to the only Way,
the only way our price was paid.
Our sin is dark, so let's not delay,
and praise the Lord to whom we prayed!

No shame was His, but that was sadly not what they,
or we, let happen to Him, for His fate was made.
His fate, which was meant for us all, was then on display.
It was then they did not praise the Lord to whom we prayed.

Three long days still and unmoved did He stay.
Buried in a tomb was where He was laid.
All appeared hopeless and full of dismay.
Who then had praised the Lord to whom we prayed?

Death could not keep Him just to decay,
for He had risen, and grace for all was made!
Now all who believe can always say,
that we give praise to the Lord to whom we prayed!

So although candy, bunnies, and eggs are fun for play
and even if Easter is just religiously manmade
It can always still be declared the most perfect day
to sing and always still say, "Praise the Lord to whom we prayed!"
