A Poem About Teenaged Pregnancy

Tondelia
Come here little girl and sit it on down
No time for wasting or joking around
I thought I taught you about these boys
I told you some will take you for granted and treat you like a toy
I had a rough life graduating from a school of hard knocks
I had hoped with YOU, this cycle would stop
So now you think you're in love
And you'll be with him until God takes you above
What are you thinking of?
You're only fifteen! And now pregnant with a child!
I am being mean?! It's not time to smile
I had you when I was fifteen and even though you weren't a mistake
I should have had the good sense God gave me to wait
But my circumstances were different, it's common knowledge, I was raped
I delivered you out of love but conceived you from hate
You and I are just trying to rise above all of this drama
Now my beautiful child is telling me, with a smile, she is about to be a mama!
You're just a baby! Still growing
Real life you're not knowing
Oh my God! You're showing!
We are fitting stereotypes becoming statistics
And the doctors' appointment made it unbelievably realistic
Have you not listened to a word I said?!
Get out of my face and go to bed!
Because no matter what, I am still your mother
And I wanted to love you reasonably so I tried not to smother
While you get with this boy and act out of character
Then shrug your shoulders as if baby doesn't matter
Worried about your clothes and looking fatter
And wondering who started the gossiping chit chatter
Pampers, babysitters, bottles, clothes, baby needs should all be on your mind
Because like me, your childhood has come to the end of it's time
I will try to help you the best that I can
I'll be by your side during delivery and hold your hand
But there is something you must understand
You have to grow up faster now and your "boyfriend" has to act like a man
I assure you this will not be an easy task
If you have any questions about baby, feel free to ask
Matter of fact, I'm making both of you take a parenting class
Promise me you won't take it out on baby when you get stressed
When you realized your life is now a mess
When you can't remember the last time baby daddy was in your sight
And you're woke frustrated because baby keeps screaming in the middle of the night
I'll never say, "I told you so" But, you'll know your mother was right!
Now take your behind to sleep! You're going to need it, goodnight!

Teenagers don't ever want to listen! They can be so wrong and in a stump but will still be trying to have the last word and mouth off!

I was a teenager who got pregnan. I was never close to any of my parents and sought out attention from men. I exploited myself and found what I thought to be love in an instant at the age of 14. A lesson learned and from this experience I would love to share my story....

this poem reminds me of my mother when i told her i was pregnant. She was more yelling and preaching than trying to understand me.
