A Poem for the Winter (or Lack Thereof)

Thomas Cleveland Lane
O, little hog of ground so cold,
Might I maybe be so bold
As to suggest you face your day
With eyes half-shut, or look away.

By now your shadow, I mean that,
Should be a thing they call old hat.
You've seen it almost every time
In the winter's coldest clime.

So maybe, not like just before,
Your shadow you could just ignore.
To turn away from that dark thing,
Will hasten extra weeks of spring.

Should I set out a bowl of booze
To help you to a lengthy snooze?
If you will sleep through that event,
The moment will have come and went.

That would work, just fine, I'd guess
If somehow you could not care less
About the things you see and know.
Look, we've had it with this snow!

Sorry I've missed a few, but I'm catching up. Having a few "flakes" up here right now!
