A Pop Tarts Store at Times Square Opens: Will 'Pop Tart Sushi' Become an After School Snack?
Sugar Laden Concoctions Such as "Pop Tarts Sushi" and "Fluffer Butter" Top the Menu at "Pop Tarts World"
Don't get me wrong. I'm an avid two-pop-tart and a Diet Dr. Pepper in the morning kinda gal myself. Personally, I thought I was getting crazy when I bought raspberry pop tarts which I have to purchase at the local grocery store instead of a nearby Wal-Mart Supercenter where I usually shop. However, my pop tart habit was mundane and boring - even more so than a plain frosting-less strawberry pop tart.
Pop Tart Sushi
So what is "Pop Tart Sushi"? Is it fish flavored pop tart (oh please- please reassure me that Kelloggs will not be making crazy flavored pop tarts the same way Jelly Belly makes weird beans!)? No. It is different flavors of pop tarts, minced, then wrapped in a fruit roll up.
Such concoction sounds like it has enough sugar in it to properly wind up a kindergartener for, oh, 3 hours or so. It's creative, to say the least - but it's one of those things I would have to actually try in order to say that it is as gross or not as gross, as it sounds.
Still, critics are giving "Pop Tarts World" thumbs up.
Other Interesting Store Features
The store will allow you to custom make your own pop tarts, custom make your own 12 packs, taste 30 original recipes, and even has a light show at night. There's supposedly something there for everyone - not only the daring menu taster types.
How Long?
The New York Times Square location will be open until at least January 2011, at which point Kelloggs will evaluate the business opportunity and see if this venture is as hot as previously believed. One cannot help but wonder whether or not the pop tarts store will become a common fixture in cities across America (and a new target for Michelle Obama's healthy eating campaigns.)
I won't be visiting New York any time soon, but I kind of wish I was going to. Why? Well, I would have to see (and taste) Pop Tarts sushi to believe it. It's one of those things that just sounds too odd to be true.

Hmmm interesting snack idea.
Great...with a nation of uber fat kids and adults, that's just what we need. At least it's in Times Square where hopefully those who indulge will walk it off. Totally ridiculous!
