A Prayer

Lee Hartsell
In this world there is a war being fought in Iraq and around the world to prevent terrorist attacks. These men have no love of God or self. They do not care if a bomb is strapped to them and it goes off. Our soldiers are dying daily and some of them still look like little boys. When I see their faces on T.V. , it reminds me of my own son at home. The boys in training look like little boys. Their army green clothes are soaked and wet from the vigorous training they have endured. The 3 a.m. alarm rings in their heads. Breakfast for them starts at 4 a.m. President Bush goes and checks on them frequently. I am thankful for the soldiers who have died to defend our country. I say thank you to their families and friends who miss them dearly. On December 20, 2007, a gentleman shook a soldiers hand, standing in Douglas International Airport , to say thank you for his service. This same gentleman went on to say, " that his own daughter had served in Iraq the year before. " The gentleman also added , that fathers and mothers have a hard time dealing with children serving their country. The soldiers were coming in for Christmas holiday. Three to five thousand made the trip that morning. Some of them still dressed in the Army fatigues. Proud to be an American. "I say thank you", to the soldiers still in Iraq and in other parts of the world, for defending our county and our freedom. God in Heaven! Please, put a hedge of protection around these men and women. Please, bring them home safely Father. Father, bring them home to mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters. Bring them safely home to wives, husbands, and children. Bring them home to grandparents and friends. May we wear our knees out, praying father, until we see every soldiers eyes. Thank you for their continued commitment.. Give them strength to go on. As they arrive home father, help them as they enter back into civilian life. Heal their minds and bodys' from what they have lived through. Take away their bad memories and give them new memories. Protect the chaplins, as they teach your word to these men and women. Protect them, as they use your name to finish a prayer. Heal the broken hearts of the families who have lost loved ones in this terrorist fight. Bring to their memory the sights and sounds of 9/11 lord. Please God, soften these families hearts. Take the weeds out of these fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, wives, husbands, and childrens hearts. Please, replace the weeds with beautiful flowers. Bless these families, father. Thank you for my own sons and daughter. Heal the Veterans who have came before. Take the weeds out of their hearts father and replace them with beautiful flowers.
