A Puppy's Lonely Tears

Lisa R. Strong
In the wee hours of morning;
I hear his lonely cries;
I don't know where he lives;
Shrill sounds of his broken heart;
Touches me deep in my soul;
His master has left him alone;
To sleep out in the cold;
No comfortable rug to lie on;
No familiar sounds;
Of his master's voice or footsteps;
He is separated and anxious;
I wish that I could help him;
And offer him some comfort;
It is clear that he is suffering;
I want to go to him;
And give him a big hug;
To make him feel better;
And to dry his tears;
But that is not possible;
So all I can do is cry and say a prayer;
Then I try to get some sleep.

    Such a tender and thoughtful poem. I can't stand to see puppies kept out in the cold weather.

    This is a very sad piece that only confirms the truth that some people shouldn't keep pets.

    What a sweet poem, but sad, puppies are like babies they need some extra love and attention. And they need lotsa hugs from us!
    Good writing as usual. Nancie
