A Quick Guide to Pondless Waterfalls

T.C.
Pondless waterfalls have many good features. First, they create an ambiance that is relaxing for any space. Second, they allow you to have a water feature without the hazard of children drowning. And third, they save so much space! Pondless waterfalls are becoming evermore popular because of these reasons as well as the simplicity of installing them. These waterfalls are super simple to install, super simple to move if you decide to rearrange your garden, and allow you the ability to remove them if you change your mind. Here is a quick overview of how to install a pondless waterfall.

You will need:
Outdoor space
Water pump
Water fountain
Pond liner
Electricity
River Rocks
Plants

First, decide where you want the waterfall. Outside of a bedroom window is a perfect place because you can open the window at night and fall asleep to the sound of running water. When choosing a spot, choose one that is easy to run electricity to. The best way to go is to buy conduit and run the wires underground to create a put together look. Once you have electricity ran, you can start. Dig a hole that is large enough to hold the pond liner. You can choose two types of liners.

1. Traditional pond liner, you can find small pond liners that are preformed, or since it will be submerged you can by liners by the roll and simply line the hole with the flexible material.

2. You can buy pond liners that are specifically for pondless waterfalls; these are more expensive but work the same. For my project, I choose a preformed liner. Once the liner is placed into the hole, fill the dirt around it. Place the rocks and plants around the liner to create a cohesive feel. Now install the pump, use river rocks to cover the wires and pump and to fill the liner. Fill the liner with water to just below the rocks and make sure the pump is submerged. When you turn on the pump the water fountain will spray the water in the air and the water will drain through the stone creating a relaxing sound.

A good way to integrate the waterfall into the outdoor space is to create a garden for the water feature to sit. Use plants, trees and seating areas to create an outdoor space that you can use to relax. If you are able to position the garden by your bedroom window, you can fall asleep to the relaxing sounds from your garden. This way you will be able to use the waterfall both inside and out.
