A Quick Look at the Philadelphia Eagles 2009 Schedule

Is There Finally a Super Bowl in the Cards for the Birds?

The NFL has just released the schedules for the 2009-2010 season. Fans are going ahead and seeing what chances their favorite team has of making it to the playoffs this year. Here is what the season holds for the Philadelphia Eagles and what their chances are of making the playoffs this season:

Sept. 13 at Carolina-- What a way to start a season. The Panthers were 8-0 at home last season, according to NFL.com.

Sept. 20 New Orleans in Philadelphia- This should be an easy game. The Saints only went 8-8 last year and also this game is being played at home in Philadelphia.

Sept. 27 Kansas City in Philadelphia - Another early home game, which means the Eagles have another chance for a win. Add in the fact that the Chiefs were 2-14 last season, and you can safely call this a 'gimme' game.

Oct. 11 Tampa Bay in Philadelphia - Another home game, another possible win. This is a toss up though, as the last time they played at Lincoln Financial Field, Tampa Bay won 17-0.

Oct. 18 at Oakland- Not a home game, but another possible win. With a stunning 2008 record of 5-11, the Eagles should be able to seal another victory for the books.

Oct. 26 at Washington - One of two games against their historic Mid-East division rivals, this game may go either way. The Redskins went 8-8 last season, and the Eagles are 66-78 during their meetings.

Nov. 1 N.Y. Giants in Philadelphia - This one will be a definite loss for the Eagles. Although Plaxico Burress is no longer with them, a win against the Giants would require a miracle.

Nov. 8 Dallas in Philadelphia - How 'bout them Cowboys? Hopefully this is what Dallas will be asking as the Eagles beat the TO free Cowboys.

Nov. 15 at San Diego - The Chargers? Hardly a thought. Mark this one a W for the Birds.

Nov. 22 at Chicago - Although they have a new quarter back, I am going to give this one to the Bears. If they were at Philadelphia, this would be a harder call.

Nov. 29 Washington in Philadelphia - This is going to be the second loss for the Eagles. As Philly.com says, "running the ball figures to be even tougher for the Eagles now that the Redskins have defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth patrolling the middle of the line."

Dec. 6 at Atlanta- The city of Philadelphia, no matter what sport, normally does well against Atlanta teams. Therefore, this game should be a win for the Eagles.

Dec. 13 at N.Y. Giants - Once again, unless a miracle can happen, I give this one to the 'G-Men'. Sorry Eagles fans.

Dec. 20 San Francisco in Philadelphia - After going 7-9 last year, this game should be an easy win for the Eagles.

Dec. 27 Denver in Philadelphia - If John Elway was still playing, I would call this a victory for Denver. Fortunately for the Eagles, those days are long gone.

Jan. 3 at Dallas - If everything goes well for the Eagles this season, they will be lassoing the Cowboys up in their new $1.1 billion dollar stadium. Otherwise, this will be a gun fight to the death.

Adding up the wins and losses, there is a good possibility that the Eagles will go 10-6 this season. With a record like that, the Eagles will head to the post season again. From there, the winner will be anybody's guess.
