A Rant About the Idiotic Glenn Beck

Beck Challenges First Muslim Congressman to "prove" He is Not an "enemy"

On the November 14 episode of his CNN Headline News TV show, Glenn Beck, self-proclaimed straight talkin', common sense everyman, has really, really pissed me off. In interviewing newly elected Democratic representative from Minnesota Keith Ellison, Beck pretty much challenged the first ever Muslim member of Congress to "prove" he is not on the side of the so-called "enemy". Beck said:

"No offense, and I know Muslims. I like Muslims. I've been to mosques. I really don't believe that Islam is a religion of evil. I - you know, I think it's being hijacked, quite frankly.

With that being said, you are a Democrat. You are saying, "Let's cut and run." And I have to tell you, I have been nervous about this interview with you, because what I feel like saying is, "Sir, prove to me that you are not working with our enemies."

And I know you're not. I'm not accusing you of being an enemy, but that's the way I feel, and I think a lot of Americans will feel that way."

What the F!! How this guy can be taken seriously by anyone is incredible to me. First of all, how annoying is it that some people think all they have to say before making incredibly offensive remarks is, "no offense, but", and they are magically excused? I'm sure many have heard this kind of thing before. But I digress-for Beck to ask a newly elected American representative, whom he has never met before and who is under no suspicion of terrorist activity whatsoever, to prove he is not "working with our enemies" is simply unbelievable. Then, to top it off, Beck assumes that "a lot of Americans feel that way"? Is he kidding?

Imagine if Dan Rather, for instance, had at some point interviewed Trent Lott and said, "No offense, you are a white southerner and you once voted against making Martin Luther Kings birthday a holiday? Sir, prove to me you are not working with the Ku Klux Klan?" If this scenario were to occur, there is no doubt that there would be uproar from the right, complete with all sorts of demands for Rather to apologize and for him to be fired-although, this hypothetical challenge from Rather would at least have some basis given Lott's history of perceived racism.

Nonetheless, there is no outrage over Beck challenging a newly elected American citizen to prove he is not "working with the enemy" simply because he is Muslim and opposes the Iraq invasion and occupation. You gotta' love that "liberal media", huh?

Hey Tony, you brain lives in a fantasy world if you think the lives of Iraqis and Afghans are better because we invaded their countries. Hundreds of thousands are dead and thousands more are displaced in Iraq because of our invasion. Afghanistan is still a mess of a country, with no prospect of things becoming much better anytime soon, and unknown numbers of civilians still die there due to our operations. And what about us here in America? Afghanistan and the Iraq war has produced thousands of maimed and mentally damaged Americans, broken families and communities, and an enormous amount of debt. All we have to show for it is more people in muslim countries becoming susceptible to extremism. War is a con, brother Toney. Start dealing with it

Marcus, would you prefer for women to still be ravaged in the rape houses of Iran? Would you prefer that young girls not be able to attend school in Afghanistan anymore? Just wondering since you don't think we should have went to war.

The idiotic right are so enraptured in lies and distortion, that even now they are trying to wipe away are deny that it is their idiotic self interest that has purged America into the certain abyss that it now faces. Someone on the right should ask your sainted members George W. Bush and Dick Cheney if plunging America into two wars that there was no reason for and driving America into the dirt is really what the Constitution and democracy are about. Of course they would never answer this truthfully because then they would be tried and executed for treason.

What I find so mystifying about the Republican party and its morons like Rush Limbaugh, Glen Beck,Bill O riley and Greoge W. Bush, and Dick Cheney, is that with all of this proclaimesd regard for fiscal responsibility and being concerned with the American way of life: is this question. When George Bush put us into a 3 trillion dollar war, where the hell were they. Thats right 3 trillion dollars and that is probably a conservative figure. If that money had been spent on America for Americans health care wouldn't need insurance it would be free and all the hospitals would be the finest in the world and the constant worry about medicare and socail security wouldn't even exist. Face the real truth Iraq is in a condition that is arguably in a condition four to five times worse now than before America went in and killed the sovereign leade of a sovereign nation like a dog in the street. Ask the average Iraqi if this is indeed not the case.Next ask the average American do they give a damn abo

The Republicans set our country up for failure and the Democrats are speedily running it into the ground. I commend Glenn for speaking out against these hypocrites in Washington.

  • dave2/25/2009

Glenn Beck is a true American patriot. He speaks his mind and actually cares about this country irrespective of political party. Both factions of the one party system are stupid and play the same game more debt to prevent solving current debt and destroy our future. Glenn is a great guy!

Maybe if you'd spend a bit more time LISTENING to an actual real and authentic person you wouldn't be so bitter. You moron! Finally left wing CNN did something more fair by putting Glenn on the air. The only 2 decent folks on CNN/HN is Glenn B and Robin Meade.
