A Real Thanksgiving Poem by Tom the Turkey, for the Turkeys

Have you heard about the humans? They're crazy. My grandma told me so.

They're twisted & horrible you really don't want to know.

Grandma tells me this story every Thanksgiving eve.

"Tom" she would say, "Come sit on my knee. "

"I have a story, it's scary but true.

Watch out for the humans or else they'll eat you!"

She wove a story of terrifying events.

And a heroic escape through a hole in the fence.

Peeking through the window, what did she see?

What was her first image after breaking free?

One of her kin de-feathered with his head cut.

They basted him & shoved bread up his butt.

They tied him up, and wrapped him in foil.

She swears a woman was singing rubbing his dead body in oil.

"They put him in a box of fire.

I swear to you I'm not a liar.

They looked like they were having fun.

They invited their whole family to see what they'd done.

So many witnesses to this gruesome scene" she had to hold back a yelp.

"No one called 911, no one called for help. "

They removed him from the fire and placed him on a platter.

What am I going to tell his wife and chicks her thoughts started to chatter.

They had an open casket type ceremony where they gathered around & prayed.

Oh I thought, for a turkey Thanksgiving is an awful day.

How does an evening like that even begin?

What makes them commit murder, a sin?

Honey come quick I have an idea you'll see.

It will be great trust me.

Whisper, whisper, invite the family, and after he's dead.

Do you think we can fill up his butt with bread?

"Looking at him cooked and tied... "

My dear sweet grandmother cried.

"Every feather plucked,"

"I'm telling you those humans are..... "
