A Reason for a Scarf in the Summer

Jose Zuniga
It is conclusive...that alluding

Images of you,

wearing a peach-scented orange scarf,

Intensifies the summer's

Suffocating grasp,

Like hands clasped

Tightly

But otherwise... if your hand

Surfaced upon my door

With a curious knock

Without that scarf,

Neck bare,

Exposing blue top, pierced belly,

Then an obvious failure would

Sting the flirtatious neck of modesty
