A Rebuttal to Extreme Makeover- Sally's Uterus (An Editorial on Abortion)

First of all I would like to say I found Mr. Coccaro's article to be very well written and I hope my article is not considered an attack on the gentleman.

I also tend not to discuss my beliefs on the abortion subject, as I am in the minority in my beliefs among my friends. I am pro life. Not really on religious grounds as I am agnostic but do lean towards Christianity.
In response to his Dead Baby Day paragraph, I don't think pro choice means pro abortion exactly. But I feel that the pro choice crowd takes women's rights too far (yeah I will get blasted for that) and I feel the rights of the baby are not taken into account. I know nobody likes abortion, anybody who has it done surely feels it's a traumatic distasteful experience. But think how traumatic and distasteful it is to the fetus. None of the pro choicers seem to think that the baby has rights.

Now Where Am I Supposed to Leave My Coat

Yes homemade abortions will rise if they can't go to their nice clean clinic. They will use the ole coathanger like they did before abortions were legal. But I know personally one woman and know of another who threw themselves down stairs anyway, trying to kill the baby, because they wouldn't go get an abortion. And if abortion is outlawed then it will stop a lot of them from happening.

Horse and Miscarriage
Yes I do support putting a baby up for adoption if it's not wanted. But more than that, I support birth control. Yeah I know it don't always work, but it never works if it isn't used. Some religious people hate the practice of handing out condoms to teens. My take is they are going to have sex anyway; we may as well try to help them with protection. Also I do not have a problem with abortion in the case of rape, or if the mom's life is in jeopardy. I really feel that way, the mom is also possibly a wife and or mother with other kids, and they should not lose a loved one if it can be helped. However I could care less about the stress and change a pregnancy puts on a mothers body, there is a real easy way to prevent this, and it's called abstinence.

Not-So-Vital Organs
I don't know when a fetus is a person. I do tend to think at conception but don't claim to know for sure. And the reason a fetus can't survive without the mother's body is that it's NOT SUPPOSED to. There is a big difference between a first trimester fetus and a kidney. The kidney will always be a kidney; the fetus will be a person one day.

God Told Me That You're Wrong
While he does state that every pro lifer is not religious, he wants everyone else to think that way. And the pro choicers impose their belief in pro choice on the whole country and that is no different than the pro lifers doing the same. I still have trouble with the mother putting herself above her baby. As I said abstinence can stop this whole process. And birth control is a lot better than abortion. And I think a woman on her 5th abortion should be jailed. I personally think that if a woman has two, that are not health related or rape related, she should be forced to have her tubes tied, to prevent another one.

Not Mentioned
I do think if really bad birth defects are detected, and I mean ones that will cause the baby to never have a real life (not Downs Syndrome) then it's acceptable for an abortion to take place.

Also not mentioned were the father's rights. Now I know that the majority of fathers of aborted babies are either happy or really relieved. But even if he is the nicest most upstanding guy in the world, a man has no say if a woman wants to abort his baby.

This isn't fair and the liberals, who want everyone to have rights, seem to forget about the man's rights.

This sums up my rebuttal and thanks for reading his and my articles
