A Refreshing Twist to the Traditional Iced Tea Recipe

Refreshing Drink for Summer

Chef Yoji
The scorching heat of summer will always make you thirsty. Good thing we can always grab a cold drink of water, beer, or soda to quench our thirst. Personally, I prefer a cold glass of refreshing Iced Tea. There are various ways to prepare Iced Tea depending on which part of the globe you live. A lot of people enjoy the traditional Iced Tea with a slice of lemon. Some like it sweet and some want the bitterness which actually gives the tea its character.

A friend of mine has created a cocktail drink which was a big hit in a party. I wanted to recreate it so that it becomes a refereshing Iced Tea drink for summer that even kids can enjoy.

Ingeredients:

4 Teabags Lipton Yellow Tea
2/3 cup brown sugar
6 cups water
1 cup hot water
1 tbsp strawberry syrup
1 tbsp honey
1 medium size orange
mint leaves
ice cubes

Procedure:

1. Steep the teabags in 1 cup of hot water for 5 minutes. Let it steep longer if you want a strong taste.
2. Add the 6 cups of water and let the mixture steep for another 5 minutes or when the desired color and taste are acquired.
3. Add the brown sugar and stir until dissolved. Another way is to make a brown sugar syrup by boiling in water. Either way works fine.
4. Add the honey.
5. Add the strawberry syrup
6. Cut the orange in half. One half should be sliced thinly and put them in the mixture. The other half, squeeze the juices and put in the mixture.
7. Put ice in the glass, and pour the Iced Tea and include some sliced oranges.
8. Garnish with mint.
9. Enjoy!

Variation: Iced Tea Shake

After Step 5, put the mixture in a blender and add crushed ice. After it becomes a little frothy on top, pour into the glass and add the oranges and mint.
