But, there are some of us who just can't hold and sustain efforts. Let us not be "ningas cogon" (only being very persuasive at the start of any undertaking) on showing the world Bayanihan!
We can never fix everything in one sitting. Damages are worth close to P5.B, not to mention the lives of 256 fellows.
Most of us, even the ones abroad had a taste of Ondoy's wrath. It could be direct or indirect but, definitely all of us were affected and still suffering from the devastation. Pointing of finger won't help in anyways.
Though admittedly, there are still some inundated areas that various relief operations couldn't reach and there are still hundreds or thousands who have hardly eat yet, we can't just point fingers to the government, or to anybody. We are all working on it, with of course the help of foreign allies like US, United Nations, China and many others.
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo along with her cabinet members sacrificed their two month pay checks; donating it to the victims. Our legislature bodies, the senate and the congress are working on bills to get funding to help victims get their feet back. Pag-ibig announced availabilities of loans that can help victims start anew.
What we are facing right now is something caused by nature and worsened by the way of life we all have chosen and practiced. We are all accountable for it!
We didn't take good care of our environment. We've clogged drainages; we've abused the rivers; we've dumped garbage and rubbish; anywhere and everywhere; we've cut the trees that could have saved us from floods. And, for all we know, it is Mother Earth's way of spanking us from disrespecting her.
My heart is torn into pieces whenever I see pictures of damages Ondoy left to the Philippines.
Tears just keep falling, whenever I see babies crying and their mommies beg for food and milk. I really can't stand it. But, we can't just cry and look for someone to blame.
No one likes what happened. It's beyond our will and we simply don't have the power to stop nature taking its course.
But, we have all the power within, to be strong, to be united and to move on!
Let us not waste our time and energy on things; issues that won't help us recuperate and recover. Rather, let us keep working together, so that we call all move forward.
