A Response to Rush Limbaugh's Diatribe on the Live Earth Concert

Dear Rush

Dear Rush Limbaugh,

You go on about what hypocrites the Live Earth activists are for holding this concert; about how not having it would save on carbon emissions and electricity; about how a large amount of garbage wouldn't be produced if the concert weren't being held. So you are saying the environment would be better off without the concert. That, I understand.

What I don't understand is that you then you turn around to criticize Live Earth in a different way, saying the concert needs more "A-list" bands and environmentalist "big hitters" to be involved. Why's that, Rush? So you can criticize them, too, for flying in from wherever? I'll tell you where they are. They are taking your advice to stay home and save on carbon emissions. If you weren't a hypocrite yourself, you would follow your own logic and publicly applaud this mass effort to conserve on the environment. But then, you won't do that will you? Because the fact that you contradict yourself doesn't matter, does it? You don't really care about the concert or the environment; it's just a part of the agenda, your nitpicking and "frank, practical observations". It's Big Rush Limbaugh defending his country from the little straw men!

You know the purpose of the Live Earth concert is to raise public awareness and to inspire people to lessen their impact, not altogether abandon their lifestyle. How better to do this than with a concert? We all know that people connect to music. But you like to deliberately miss the point to trick your listeners into missing the point with you. You just pander to the target audience, spewing anti-liberal propaganda you know they will swallow up.

"The liberals are trying to run your life!"

Wait a second, Mr. Limbaugh, who's running whom?

I have a degree in English and hope to write many books. Even one would be fine. Also, I like bad puns and whiskey.  View profile
