First, let's look at the front end. The headlights are a distinct difference between the new and the old. They're more edgy, and more aggressive. The bumper now looks like it'll bite your head off, and those nostrils that have become the BMW trademark are now gaping holes that will swallow you hole; after it's bitten your head off.
It looks mad - no other description needed. And with that, there's the heart of the beast, which now pumps aggression. It's a 3.0L I6 engine that produces from 230 horsepower to 300! The one you want to go for is the xi though, if you want to talk power. And if you're looking at the 3 Series Coupe, look for either the i, or the xi. Both have turbocharged engines producing 300 horsepower! That's nearly as much as the previous generation M3's were making! I'm sure you can have fun with that!
Another great thing about the BMW 3 series is it's available as a coupe. Not exactly something new, but for some reason I think the tail lights on the sedan is a little weird, but the tail lights on the coupe are fantastic! The whole car looks like it's an M3, except for the fact that the trim is a little different.
BMW has once again done what they've been doing for 18 years now with the 3 series - motoring perfection. The ultimate driving machine is still ultimate. There's only a problem of making the choice. The 3 series comes in four trim options: estate, coupe, sedan, and convertible. All have their functions. The estate has space, the sedan has convenience, the coupe has performance, and the convertible has fun. So, now it's up to you, if you're buying one, what you'll use it for.
I'm a big fan of style. I think a car is as much a fashion accessory as a phone, or a watch, or a diamond ring. So to me, looks are important. But don't for one second think that I'm giving up performance to looks. I know that when you sit in a car, you can't see most of the body, and when you drive it's the drive that really matters. So it's a fight between the coupe and convertible. Which one would I have? Well, I'd like to have both. I'd like to have the coupe when I want to thrash around, and the convertible to cruise around with the open air when i want to feel the breeze.
