A Review of the 2010 SS Camaro

David C. Atkin
I am quite possibly one of the biggest camaro fans in the earth, this is my review of the 2010 camaro, when it was first introduced the 2010 SS camaro had a few critics, these people were mostly picking the small things apart, like the grille was to small.

They had failed to really give this car a chance, the 2010 camaro combines the best of the first generation camaro, with the best of modern technology to create one of the best muscle cars on the market today, Chevrolet has done a great job with the styling of this car.

First of all it does one of the most important things that a muscle car car do, it beats both the Dodge challenger, and the Ford mustang on the race track, and it does it with great style and power, the engine and braking technology in this car is superb.

The interior of the 2010 SS camaro remind you of the cockpit of an airplane, although the instrumentation takes you back to the old days of the camaro, the center console has a gauge pod of four gauges sitting right behind the shifter.

This gauge pod reminds you of the center gauges from the first generation camaro, but with a flare all their own, you really can't mistake the first generation homage that Chevrolet has given on this car, the camaro lovers asked, and they received, this is a great car.

You can purchase the 2010 SS camaro with an automatic, or a six speed standard transmission, the automatic version has a little less rear wheel horsepower, but offers the ease of not having to shift the gears, most true camaro fanatics will get the six speed standard transmission.

The body styling of the camaro is low slung and sporty looking, but with essence of of the 69 camaro the rear haunches, Chevrolet has done a great job of capturing just enough of the old, and just the right amount of the modern technology.

It took some time for the old camaro guys to come around, but I think that most of them are seeing in this car exactly what Chevrolet had planned, I see them all over the city now, and they look great, I was a skeptic at the first, but I think that the 2010 SS camaro is a great car now.

The SS camaro boasts an independent rear suspension system rather the the old first generation idea of the solid rear axle, and a set of leaf springs, which helps out in the handling department on this car, the SS camaro only comes with a V8 power plant.

The 6.2 liter V8 engine will deliver 426 HP with the six speed standard transmission installed in it, this will defiantly take you back to the good old days, the camaro with the automatic will deliver 400 HP, which is about a standard trade off for the luxury of an automatic transmission.

The manual transmission SS camaro produced a 0-60 time of 5.0 seconds, the SS camaro also had an astounding 16 MPG city gas mileage, while the high way MPG hit 25 with the automatic transmission, these are quite impressive numbers considering that it's a muscle car.

The 2010 SS camaro has proven itself on the ΒΌ mile track with a 13.1 on street tires at 109.4 miles per hour, out doing the mustang GT by an amazing 7 MPH, on the slalom track the camaro traded places with the mustang which did it in 65.8, while the camaro took 68.4 seconds.

All in all the 2010 SS camaro is a great car, it has a few small woes here and there, but in general Chevrolet has done an amazing job building this car to modern day standards, while still paying homage to the first generation camaro.
