Some guys are Chevy men, some guys are Ford men, but when it comes to me, I'm an Apple man. Like most diehard Apple fans I've invested in a new MacBook Pro every time significant leaps in technology have been introduced. This 2011 release marks a significant leap from the 2010 6.2 models. That's why a few days ago on the 24th I left work early just so I could go collect my brand new 15 inch Apple MacBook Pro 8.2. I'm going to use this review to let you guys know what to expect out of this newest edition of one of Apples most prolific offerings.

Design 4/5

The MacBook's simple design is what makes it beautiful. Still crafted out of a single piece of aluminum it has an air of brawn that just isn't seen with every laptop. This 8.2 stands out from the crowd with the simple aluminum design which highlights the central glowing apple however that being said not much has changed in this category with the new Pro which is why I'm ranking it a 4.

Visuals or Graphics 5/5

When the average consumer thinks of Apple the first thing that pops into their mind is multimedia and superior graphics. The MacBook Pro 8.2 and 8.3 offer improvements of the previous models which I found to be appreciable. The display itself hasn't been improved but I found the stand alone graphics processing to be smoother and faster when pushed.

Features 5/5

The most significant feature on the new Pros is the addition of a high definition camera that can be utilized with Apples new FaceTime. FaceTimes popularity has exploded since it was introduced along with the iPhone 4. I wasn't sure how much use I would get out of it but I've found it to be addictive. The camera can also be utilized for other more typical web cam uses.

Value 5/5

Annually Apple puts out new, updated versions of each of the products in their line. Since they never offer any of their products at a bargain price it has been important for their customers to make sure the updates between each version are significant enough to justify the cost. In the case of the new 2011 Apple MacBook Pro I would say it is in fact one of those updates. I've found the new FaceTime integration as well as the stand alone graphics processing in the 15 and 17 inch models alone significant enough to rationalize the purchase. I won't go into specifics but the processor upgrades from the previous model are obvious. The new sandy bridge technology from intel is wonderful, this computer is fast. I can't even stand to go back to my old model. The bottom line is, if you've been holding out now is the time to buy, you will be pleased.
