A Review of My 5 Star Eastern Mountain Sports Brighton Bag

What a Great Way to Travel!

Everything we read, every web page to which we went, every person to whom we spoke warned us about pickpockets in Spain. We were going to Barcelona and Madrid so I wanted a bag that I could carry without worry. I found Brighton by Eastern Mountain Sports.

This bag can be worn as a shoulder bag or as a cross-over strap bag, which is how I wore it especially since it was safe like that. At the shortest the strap measures about 24 inches. At the longest it measures about 44 inches so anyone of any height can use this bag. Short of someone cutting the thick adjustable 1 ½ inch wide nylon strap, this bag wasn't being taken off of me.

EMS Brighton has a lot of features. It is made of velocity nylon, which is very durable and easy to clean. In fact because of the material it doesn't get dirty easily.

There are two side zip pockets. One with a mesh side held my water bottle. The other is padded so that is where my camera lived. You can also use it for your cell phone, iPod and any electronics you want to keep protected.

It has a front flap with not only a zippered pocket on it but this flap buckles so the inside cannot be touched. Inside the flap there is one large open compartment and four smaller ones. Two of them are very narrow and work for pens and pencils.

Under this flap there is a tethered button release key holder. In CVS I found suntan lotion and hand sanitizer with key rings that I clip to the key holder.

The main compartment is huge and has a mesh zippered compartment inside. There is an open pocket on the back in which I could put maps, travel books, and papers that could be stolen.

The Brighton comes in rose, heather, which is the one I have and it is actually black, a shade of green called peridot, and Moroccan blue, which is in the turquoise family. I saw all of the colors in the store and they are all very pretty. I had a hard time deciding which color to buy!

It measures 13 inches by 11 inches by 6 inches and weighs 15 ounces.

The one negative is the very pretty embroidery on the front. Although it is very pretty my husband wouldn't hold it unless it was turned around. Alright so that is not a big deal but when he had on pants with Velcro pockets the embroidery caught on the pockets making this pretty area a bit messy. Still this is a 5 star bag and it is only $39.00.

Great review. I didn't know about pick pockets in Spain. When we travel, I always have my husband carry the money. :)
