The current BMW model lineup is split into what they call "Series 2", which traditionally identified by a single digit like the 3 Series. In 2004 BMW announced plans to make odd-numbered series sedan and wagon models, while even numbered series would be coupes and such. There is possibly a chance BMW will release a V3 or V5. The V3 will probably be similar to the 3-Series, X3, and will compete against Mercedes-Benz B-Class. The V5 will probably be similar to the 5-Series and X5, and will compete against Mercedes-Benz R-Class.
1 Series
A small family car launched in Autumn 2004 in Europe, and the coupe 135i will be launched in the U.S. It is the only rear wheel drive vehicle in its class. A coupe has been announced for this year and there are concepts of a hatchback and a minivan.
3 Series
This series is the entry-level luxury sedan, now in its fifth generation. The E90 line has been available in the United States and Canada since 2006 model year. As well as the AWD-versions of these two models, named 325xi and 330xi. It is the most common car in its class and it is the most popular of the BMW models. Not too expensive and not very reliable.
5 Series
A mid-size luxury car or executive car if people want a little bit more class. This series is available with different engines: the 525i with the same engine as the 325i, the 530i with the same engine as the 330i, and the 545i with a 4.4 L V8 producing 325hp. This year the BMW has revised the 5 series with slightly different bumpers and additional safety features, the same engines remain however.
6 Series
The 6 series is currently available in the 650i version with a 4.8L V8 producing 360hp and the 630i version with a 3.0 R6 Straight Six engine. Wow. A very strong engine it is. This car is like the M Series and mostly used for racing and such. But at the same time it is luxurious.
7 Series
A full size luxury car competing with the Mercedes-Benz s-Class, Audi A8, and Jaguar XJ. What's interesting is the fact that the 760Li is also made in a bulletproof version for clients who need extra protection. This car is the top of the class luxury for more important individuals.
