Being the avid shopper and bargain hunter that I am, I absolutely love my Big Lots stores. I always seem to manage to fill up a shopping cart with purchases every time I am inside this store. There are a couple of stores in the city of Wichita, Kansas, that aren't too far from my home.

Granted, some of the products are just plain junk. A little on the low end quality side, but there is a plethora of wonderful items that you are able to purchase for one to three dollars. That's my kind of shopping, where I can have a lot of things that don't seem like I spent a lot. Until I get through the check out line, and actually pay for all of it!

There are many times that I have bought items, and I really liked them. It's a great opportunity to try something new. There are also many times on the next trip I made to the store, that I was dissapointed to see there weren't any of the same items on the shelves.

Where's my stuff? I am usually reluctant to buy more than one item at a time, if I haven't ever used it before. When I find something that I really like, I use it at home shortly after the puchase, then I return to the store as soon as possible to buy some more.

I have found wonderful shampoos, and lotions for a fraction of the price of more expensive designer items. I've bought a Charles Worthington London shampoo, and Revlon's Aqua Marine shampoo. These may be well known companies, but I didn't know that either one of these products existed, before I saw them at Big Lots. They were great shampoos. I have had the Aqua Marine in the lotion before, but I was unaware of a shampoo in that line.

I like finding body butter for a couple of dollars, My latest adventure in the the store turned up a couple of jars if it in some delicious scents. One is a vanilla sugar cookie, and the other is a peppermint candy cane flavor. They smell good enough to eat. I have never heard of the brand of these before, but for that price, I didn't figure I could go wrong.

There have been a couple of times that I picked up a great beauty cream that I use on my face. It is a collagen cream, and it feels great on my skin. It doesn't have the staying power as Revlon's Eterna 27, but for the price, it's a great find.

I couldn't resist buying a two pack of Revlon nail enamel for two dollars. Two dollars! One color in the package I particularly wanted, and I gave the other bottle to my daughter. I've also bought a two pack of the Revlon Colorstay nail polish that I liked. It was also two dollars. In it, was a bottle of nail color, and a bottle of sealant. Such wonderful well known brands, for two dollars! I was in hog heaven.

One of my recent purchases was a package of two Bill Blass candles for five dollars. They were beautifully packaged, and highly scented candles. I probably should have saved these for gifts, but I couldn't resist burning them. The are about six inch pillars, that simply looked, and smelled great.

I recently decided to make some chunky, twisted necklaces, each one out of a lot of different beads. On one trek to the store, I found some nice glass beads that were a dollar a package. I bought an abundance of them at one time. I also got some pretty glass bead pendants, that would also double for earrings. The next time that I went into the store, the beads there were almost all gone. I'm not the only one who likes to dig around in boxes. The beads weren't hanging up on a display, they were nestled inside a box, at the end of an aisle shelf.

Being the movie addict that I am, I can never come out of that store without carrying a couple of plastic bags full of videos. I've found great movies for two, and three dollars apiece.

There are a few paper back, and hard back books, that usually run for under five dollars each. I have also found nice Hallmark cards in a set, that were blank inside to use for thank you notes. I believe they were one or two dollars for each package.

I have bought some of the food, but I would advise one to check the expiration date on these items. I did buy some jelly one time, that was from another country, and it tasted great.

I got some nice bars of soap once, that were thirty five cents each. Most of them were glycerin, that were variations of the same color, that I ended up using for decoration in a basket in the bathroom.

For Christmas time one year, I found some Santa head shaped soaps that were really different. I didn't use these, I just put them on some Christmas towels for decoration. They were fifty cents each.

It's great in that there is such a variety of different items everytime I shop there. There are constantly new products that I haven't seen before, and they are too tempting to pass up. I like finding things that I haven't heard of before. If by some chance you don't like something after you bring it home, just give it to somebody else you think would enjoy it. That's what I do. I tell them how cheap it was, and watch their eyes bug out reacting to the ridiculously low price that I paid for it. They always want to know where I got it.

During the summer months, I like to get the solar powered lights for my front yard. They are reasonably priced, and I have some that have different tops on them, that light up. Such as a sun, a flower, and a butterfly. One I have is an orb, that changes into a lot of different colors. Some of the neighbors have asked me where I got them. You can show off your bargains outside, for others to enjoy.

I spend so much time in the store when I am there, that when I return home my husband always asks me if I took inventory again. It's become a running joke between us, so when I say that I am going to go take inventory, he knows exactly where I am headed.

It's a wonderful store that I thoroughly enjoy. I always find great buys each time I step through the door.

I agree, their furniture isn't something that I would purchase. And, I always check the expiration date on food items. But, for the majority of items there, it is a good deal. At least you're not out that much money, just to try something that you haven't seen in other stores. Some things seem to be discontinued products. I have seen expired dates on food. I wouldn't buy my pets any of the off brand food. For the most part, it's a great place.

Big Lots sells defective merchandise. Just look at the federal consumer safety recall of bunk beds that Big Lots sells. The top-bed collapses, the top bed's slates brake, etc. The junk is made in Vietnam. If a person buys soaps and cheap hand cream its alright; stay away from any electronic device or furnishings though.
