Bring it On, Has Already Brought It, and Claims that in Mutliple Viewings it Can Bring It.. Time and Time Again

"Bring It On" is a movie that understands what it is. A movie for teens, about leaders of the cheer. Much like "American Pie" and "Get Over It", it is immature and full of pop cinematography. But that is precisely what they are going for. Much like teens... it is loud, juvenile, and colorful. Yet, those qualities make this movie a nice delightful time. It is full of spirit and spunk, giving this teen comedy life and a cheerful spark. The biggest asset that it holds is the direction that really brings this high school cheerleading story to life. With snappy one liners and quirky characters "Bring It On" is a funny movie that is not afraid to show passion and make you cheer at cheerleading.

The Toro cheerleading squad from Rancho Carne High from San Diego. have a stunning routine that is perfect for landing them the National Championship Trophy. The hold the opportunity to win it for the 6th time in a row. But things take a nasty turn for newly appointed cheer leader Torrance Shipman played by Kirsten Dunst. When it becomes apparent that their perfectly-choreographed cheers were stolen, from another school. So from that point forward team cheer captain Torrance must find a way to salvage the teams future and future reputation by finding a way to acquire a new fresh routine, with which to compete with.

"Bring It On" is a movie that shows an immense love for cheers and the ones that create them. Heck, this movie creates a whole world of it. It shows not only the high school part of it, but also a mass competition world behind it. And how cheering is more than just a bunch of girls cheering. For one, the teams include men and it is a competitive sport, that reaches ESPN. Also, the movie is genuinely funny. It has juvenile humor, that might not appeal to adults... yet with an open mind I think even those older folks would find charm behind the pop dialog.

The characters are interesting. Kirsten Dunst (who I loved In "Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind" plays head cheerleader, and does it with enough conviction and her passion for cheering makes the story authentic. She is small in stature, white in skin, and has blond hair.. which means that she was perfect at playing "The Stereotypical Head Cheerleader". It also helped that displayed a great amount of spark and spunk. Then, also staring in this movie is Eliza Dushku who plays a hard attitude carrying girl called Missy. She had to be a hard knocks chick that is very against becoming a cheerleader but because she needs to satiate her thirst for "Gymnastic" like competition she gives cheering a try. In this movie she shows much of the hard attitude that she displayed in her show "Tru Calling" and in movies like "The New Guy" and "Jay and Silent Bob Stike Back". So if you liked her there you will like her in "Bring It On". Gabrielle Union plays a confident rival to Kirsten Dunsts character. She has the attitude of one who will not be seen as less because she is of a different color denomination. That element of black and white also gives this movie a bit more depth.. even if it only flirts with it. Gabrielle Union did a great job at playing the Compton Clovers head cheerleader.

"Bring It On" hit the whole high school cheerleader life right on the head. It is very funny, with witty one liners. And shows a real passion for cheerleading. With a cheerful spirit that could rival that of Richard Simmons, it is far from being boring. Actually it is very entertaining because of its bubble gum charm.
