A Review of Britney Spears' Latest Single, Piece of Me

With the mid-December release of Piece of Me, Britney Spears proves to the world that she doesn't plan to change and sees nothing wrong with her recent behavior. The video is a familiar scene: A barely dressed Britney, touting her "assets" and bragging about them. Her costuming is minimal and includes, at various points, a thong, the typical sequined black bra, shorts that cover less than some underwear and what might be a dress but is probably lingerie.

The lyrics suggest that she's proud of the incidents that have happened recently, with her public exposure with lack of undergarments or the more up-to-date custody battle over her two sons. She goes so far as to sing, "Guess I can't see the harm / In working and being a mama / And with a kid on my arm / I'm still an exceptional earner / you want a piece of me?" I think this is a line that she hadn't crossed before now, using her children as tools in what she thinks is her career.

Of course, fans have completely different opinions of Britney Spears' Piece of Me. On her official YouTube channel, her videos are available for perusal, and Piece of Me holds the most prominent spot. The user comments are mostly along the vein of the album being wonderful and Britney being cool. A few comments, though, say that she used to have a good career, and they leave it at that. It seems like those who have remained fans this long are generally OK with the direction she's gone, while others are leaning toward being disgusted.
