They packages came in and I was anxious to see what all the fuss was about when it came to the Calphalon cookware. I opened them up and took them to the kitchen. They are a heavy aluminum with a thick bottom and sides. The handles are stainless steel. I was impressed by the construction. It was already late in the day so trying them out would have to wait until morning.
I decided to use the crepe pan for breakfast. I made dippy eggs for the kids and then scrambled for the husband. In to the pan went just a touch of butter and then the eggs. Now let me tell you, when it came time to flip the eggs, I was literally chasing them around the pan. Nothing stuck to the bottom and no broken yolks, so the kids were pleased. When it came time to make the scrambled eggs, I decided not to add any more butter and really put the Calphalon pan to the test. In go the eggs, once they start to set up I give them a quick turn and let them finish cooking. Now was the time for reckoning. I grabbed the plate and tilted the pan. Every single drop of egg was on the plate. A wipe with the paper towel and the pan was clean.
I am impressed by the design and quality of the Calphalon pans. I have made gravy, soups, stir-fry's, and many other things in these pans and nothing sticks. They heat evenly and clean ups are a snap. I do not know that I would pay regular price for them just because it is a lot of money but I will be adding to my set as I find good deals on them.
