A Review of Clearasil's Ultra Vanishing Acne Spot Treatment Cream

A Review of a Popular Acne Treatment Product

Since my teenage days, facial pimples have always been a recurring problem for me. In order to try and alleviate my pimples, I decided to try Clearasil's Ultra Vanishing Acne Spot Treatment Cream. I've seen it in commercials and have heard of this spot treatment and thought I'd give it a shot. The product comes in a variety of sizes, from 1 ounce to 6 ounce tubes, and is easily identifiable by the blue and white containers.

Applying the cream was not what I imagined; not only was the cream too thick for my skin to properly absorb, but the cream that was supposed to act as a "spot treatment" remedy actually left visible, round, white, oily orbs around my pimples that clearly indicated where I had applied the cream. The cream itself dried fast, but did not absorb into the skin, instead remaining a bit flaky on the skin and becoming more visible. However, the smell of the cream was not too bad, since other products on the market can be much worse, especially the liquid astringents.

Also, the fact that the thick cream is in a small tube recreated the problem that we all have with toothpaste: the tube becomes completely bent out of shape, and getting out the cream becomes quite a task. As soon as half the tube was gone, it was time for me to get to the pharmacy and pick up another tube.

In general, I realized Clearasil cream was not the acne medication I had been looking for. The Clearasil Vanishing Cream did not really banish anything but the size of the tube, and the benzoyl peroxide in the cream actually ended up drying my skin to an unbearable point.

As for recommendations, I would not suggest this acne treatment to anyone with skin that is prone to drying, since the peroxide will only make the problem worse. Applying really tiny quantities of the cream may be the solution, so that would mean that the product is best suited for those who suffer from only very occasional pimples and not recurring episodes. For those who travel often, especially on business or for school, I would recommend at least trying out Clearasil's Acne Vanishing Cream since the size of the tube that I got was by far smaller than any other on the shelf and would be a great travel beauty product to have just in case.
