A Review of the Crocs Specialist Clog

Steven Moneyworth
While Crocs are less prevalent than they were a few years ago, the company best known for its foam clogs continues to produce a variety of footwear. Needing a more comfortable pair of shoes for work, I decided to try the Specialist model of Crocs. In this article, I share my review of the Crocs Specialist clogs.

The Crocs Specialist shoes are similar to the classic Crocs clogs, but have none of the characteristic holes in the top of the clog. Instead, the top portion of the shoe is slightly thicker to prevent possible injury from dropped objects. Additionally, the Crocs Specialist model is available both with and without side vents. Finally, Specialist clogs have a higher heel in the back than regular Crocs do. While many object to the aesthetics of Crocs, the Crocs Specialist is actually somewhat attractive, from my point of view. To my untrained eye, the Crocs Specialist model looks at least as good as most models of Dansko clogs. Currently, the available colors for the Crocs Specialist include black, white, navy blue, chocolate (a brownish green), and bubblegum pink.

Of course, the true beauty of Crocs has always been in their function, rather than their appearance. Since I got these Crocs a few months ago, I've been wearing them almost exclusively at work. I am on my feet often during eight-hour shifts, but haven't had any issues with post-work foot pain since purchasing these shoes. The arch support in the Specialist model is good and I find that the shoes conform to my feet. The clogs only come in whole sizes, but it feels as though they run slightly large. I would recommend ordering a size down if you buy the Crocs Specialist online. I normally wear a size 10 shoe, but am a size 9 in these clogs.

The Crocs Specialist clogs are as easy to clean as any other model of Crocs. After a particularly unfortunate plumbing incident, I was extremely thankful that I had these Crocs, and that this particular model has no holes. The Crocs Specialist model, like most models of Crocs shoes, can be sanitized with a mixture of bleach and water. As someone that works in a medical setting where body fluids are not uncommon, I appreciate the fact that the Crocs Specialist model is impermeable to liquids.

Currently, Crocs is having a very significant sale on the Specialist model. For less than $20, it's possible to get a (somewhat) attractive, comfortable, and protective shoe that will last. I think that the Crocs Specialist is a great deal for anyone looking for an inexpensive and functional clog, and give it a strong recommendation. If you have any thoughts on the Crocs Specialist, or any other model of Crocs, feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below. Thank you for reading.
