The application's features are plenty and very useful. However, Discover does come with ads (since it is free) and a bit of lag.
Features
The Discover application has the following features:
Flash Drive (wireless)
Wireless file sharing
File reader (Multiple formats)
Access to MobileMe iDisk and Discover servers (public and local servers)
Public and Local Access
Main Review
Discover is an application that transforms the iPhone or iPod Touch into a wireless flash drive. Other applications provide the same feature set, however, Discover comes with a distinct advantage - it is free.
The interface loads rather slow but is very easy to use once everything has been set up. To use Discover, users will have to enable wireless connectivity. Opening the application displays a few advertisements, after which, a little pop-up screen displays instructions on connecting to the device. On the computer, open a browser and type in the device's IP address which is provided by the Discover application. This opens an interface that allows users to upload or download multiple files.
When using Discover, there are areas of the iPhone or iPod that will be unusable. Users can, however, just create the folders and copy file there.
Discover, aside from using the iPhone as a flash drive, also allows users to view the files on the phone. This may be done while connected or disconnected to the computer. Users can view presentations, documents, images, audio and video files using Discover. Supported audio files include the very common formats ACC, mp3, and WAV. Supported video formats include MPEG-4 and H.264. Supported document formats include .docx and .doc.
Using the application to view large files may cause a bit of lag. This is especially true for viewing large power point presentations and pdf files.
The Discover application offers a rich feature set. However, it does come with a rather significant downside - the speed. It is not something that should totally turn users off the application. However, it can do with a lot of improvements. Viewing any large files will cause some lag. However, it is often expected on the iPhone. It still could get better though.
Lag issues aside, Discover is a very useful application that every iPhone user should have installed. Offered absolutely free, there is no reason that should stop people from getting hold of this application.
Pricing
The Discover application is available free at the App Store.
Conclusion
The application's integration with iPhone is excellent and above average. As is its user interface. The application is reusable as well. With a great feature set and a free price tag, Discover gets an overall rating of 4.5 out of 5. Highly Recommended!

Post a CommentI'll have to share this with the IPhone users I know. Intriguing app.
Namaste. You are right Mr. David and in the coming future, it will be far more advanced then what it is now.
The I Phone certainly expands the range of possibilities! Namaste.
