A Review for Disney Sing It: Family Hits

Let the Family Fun Begin

KS
Released on August 3rd for the Nintento Wii and Play Station 3, Disney Sing It: Family Hits has songs that both parents and children can sing along with making it a great family fun activity. With this game the family sings along to their favorite animated Disney movie.

This is a karaoke game that provides fun family competitiveness . Each family member attempts to sing the correct song lyrics, in time to the music, while maintaining the right vocal pitch in order to obtain the highest score.

This game is fun because you don't have to have a perfect voice to play along. It is very forgiving. And the instructions on the screen are easy to follow. And it does offer a vocal coach that teaches parents and children alike the proper way to sing. There are 15 lessons that cover everything from warm ups, pitch, rhythm and memory. Anika Noni, Rose, voice of Princess Tiana from the Princess and the Frog, guides you through all the singing basics to advanced games and challenges. So though you may not start out perfect, there is potential in your future!

There are 30 songs to choose from and a few of the movies you can look forward to singing along with are The Jungle Book, Mary Poppins Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, as well as contemporary favorites from films like Disney Pixar's Toy Story and Cars. It also includes songs from The Lion King, Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, The Princess and The Frog, and more. However with so many great songs to choose from, be prepared for the disappointment of this game not having at least one of your favorite songs. The song choice does cause some limitations, children may be to young to know many of the songs, and some of the songs are too new for many parents. So everyone needs to be prepared to learn new songs in order to keep the game interesting. Good news, it's not too hard to learn most of these songs.

I would say that this game is most appropriate for children beginning at about age 7, due to the reading requirements, but don't be discouraged to play partners with your younger children. There is more that one way to play this game. You can play solo, but you can also choose to play in Party Play. Party Play mode offers 3 choices of play: Together, Showdown and Solo. In Together mode players sing cooperatively. Players have the choice to sing one line and pass the mic to the next player. In Showdown mode players sing against each other for the highest score, and Solo mode allows individuals to perform for everyone else in the room.

This game may purchased with or without the microphone. When bundled with the microphone the cost is typically between$49.96 and $49.99. This price was obtained through comparison of K-Mart, Amazon.com, Walmart, Best Buy, and Gamestop.com. When not bundled with the microphone the price is near $10 less.
