A Review of the Dyson DC14

It was about two years ago when my wife and I used our Christmas money to purchase a Dyson DC14 vacuum. Our purchase was for roughly about $350 on sale and we purchased a refurbished model through Overstock.com. Considering we are amongst the many of us who reside in the "middle income" bracket, we considered this to be an investment rather than a purchase. When we finally got the Dyson DC14 home, I can honestly say that I don't believe their were prouder owners of any vacuum on the planet that day.

We first ran the vacuum over the rug and the Dyson's Root Cycle Technology with its 12 amp motor immediately took effect. Now I wouldn't say that my wife and I are dirty people however, after one simple run over the carpet with the Dyson we felt like complete slobs. It extracted so much more from our carpet than we could have ever imagined that we were simply disgusted with ourselves and ecstatic at the same time. So much so that we immediately drove across town with our detachable canister over to my in-laws' house just to show them the massive collection of dirt inside. Comparing the Dyson DC14 to the current Eureka vacuum that we had been using, it was apparent that we were using a far superior product.

There are many nice features and accessories to the DC14 (brush control, Telescopic Reach Wand, crevice tool, etc.) but none of these features will impress the owner as much as the Dyson itself. We immediately declared that neither of us would ever buy another brand of vacuum again. Since our purchase, I have convinced my own parents to purchase one for themselves. They are in a similar income bracket and I guaranteed them that they would be totally sold after one run over the carpet. Needless to say, my mother is completely satisfied. The DC14 is very lightweight and not clumsy or cumbersome to maneuver. We've had success with vacuuming on hardwood floors, furniture upholstery and of course, our carpet.

I suppose if their was one downfall to the Dyson, it would be that the canister where the debris collects is a small one and you have to empty it somewhat frequently. However, the benefit to having the canister is that you never have to buy replaceable bags for it at any point. In closing, I would advise anyone looking for a reliable vacuum that is financially feasible for most people to consider the Dyson DC14. It has done nothing but impress my wife and I from the moment we bought it.
