I especially enjoy the margaritas. Efrains has a different way to serve them and your margarita will arive in a mason jar. As I look around the restaurant, I can see that many others also enjoy the margaritas. This is not the place to order a frozen margarita. My husband made the mistake of ordering one and the waitress looked at him kind of funny, but he insisted. He wasn't real pleased with it and I told him next time to just order a margarita. They don't even ask if you want frozen or on the rocks. It's just assumed and expected that you want it on the rocks. Even though I like margaritas, there are many places that I don't like the way they are made and won't order one, but at Efrains I have one every visit.
If you go to Efrains in the summertime there is a porch that you can sit on and enjoy your meal. They are usually busy during dinner and lunchtime so, if you don't like waiting, you'll want to time your visit around off times. They are closed on Tuesdays. They have a rather small parking lot, but there is parking on the street.
I can't say that the atmosphere is anything special, but the service has always been good, and the food has been great. I normally like to get the vegetarian taco. This dish has beans lettuce tomatoes and cheese with slices of avocado on top which I absolutely love. My husband loves their burritos and chile verde. They also serve a chicken chimichanga which is very popular and fajitas, which I have not tried.
Efrains is a local restaurant and one of three family owned restaurants. The restaurant, that is located in Lafayette, is the origianal Efrains location and has been in business for over 20 years. The other locations are in Boulder and Longmont. Since my family loves Mexican food, we've tried a lot restaurants all over the country, and I have to say that Efrains Mexican Restaurant is one of our favorites. We enjoy this restaurant so much that we travel about 30 minutes to get there.
