A Review of Embassy Suites in Charleston, WV

Reservations

Embassy Suites has several packages that include: white water rafting, romantic getaway, pizza and movie, build a bear workshops, internet package, and more. Before making the reservation, I called Embassy Suites to ask a few questions. At other hotels, they tend to rush you off the phone, but this lady answered all of my questions with detailed information.

Arrival

On arrival, the hotel is breath-taking. The lobby has lots of tropical plants and water fountains. The hotel is uniquely designed with glass elevators and the floors being in a circle. The man at the front desk was very friendly and professional. Check-in was fast since they have self-parking and allow the guests to use the luggage carts. My friend and I even made it to the manager's reception even though we arrived close to when it ended.

The suite was also as expected. I was given the non-smoking room with two beds that I had requested. All of their rooms have a compact refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot, two televisions, a queen-sized sleeper sofa, and more.

Location

Charleston Town Center Mall, the largest indoor mall in West Virginia, is across the street from Embassy Suites. The hotel is also conveniently located to restaurants. In fact, Outback is right across the street on the outside of the mall.

Amenities

Embassy Suites is certainly a unique hotel in Charleston, WV. It is more like a spa getaway than a hotel. They have a heated indoor pool, whirlpool, sauna, and sundeck. They also have a fitness center.

For a fee, high speed internet is available in the suite. Internet is free in the hotel's business center, but they only have space to hookup one laptop. Since I was aware of this prior to my stay, I left my laptop at home.

Complementary Breakfast

Embassy Suites has a breakfast buffet that is included in the price. They also have made to order omelets and pancakes. However, the line for these items can be quite lengthy at peak breakfast times. The eggs on the buffet weren't good and the hash browns were oddly made, but everything else was excellent. My only real complaint is the breakfast times. Check-out is not until noon, but breakfast stops being served at 9am during the week. On the weekends, they stop serving at 10:30am. Thankfully I was there on a weekend.

Check-out

Checking out of the hotel was fast since they offer Express Check-out. During the night, your statement is slid under the door. Simply call the front desk to inform them of your departure time. Express Check-out allows the keys to be left in the room and the incidentals to be charged to your credit card on file without having to wait at the front desk to check-out.
