A Review of Fabric Refreshers and Dish Detergents: Febreze and FMV

Johanna Swith
A clean and fresh home is extremely important to me, and I go out of my way to keep my house in prime condition. There is nothing more humiliating than an unexpected guest finding your house in shambles, in my opinion. It is really frustrating to spend fifty or more dollars a month on cleaning supplies, when the price of everything has dramatically, except wages are still the same. In this economic situation it is growing increasingly more important to stretch your dollars as far as you possibly can. In this multi product review, I will focus on store brand and generic cleaning products in an effort to help consumers stretch their money a little further.

I love fabric refresher products, however I do not love the hefty price tag of Fabreeze. I found a generic version of Fabreeze made by Magic Power at a fraction of the cost of traditional Fabreeze. Fabric Refresher with odor Eliminators by Magic Power comes in a thirty three fluid ounce bottle for less than two dollars, while Fabreeze costs nearly five dollars where I live. Often times I buy my Fabric refresher with odor eliminators at Family Dollar at a price of $1.50 per bottle. It is a great deal, and the product preforms well. You can't get an assortment of fragrances but the Citrus Scent is pleasant, affordable and works on a variety of fabrics such as carpets, drapes, furniture and clothing.

Another great buy in generic products is FMV dish liquid detergent. I replaced a more expensive brand, Simplicity, with FMV dish liquid. Simplicity costs over three times more than FMV, but FMV provides adequate bubbles, and more cleaning power. Again the assortment of novel fragrances is non existent, but the FMV brand of liquid dish detergent will wash more sink loads of dishes, and get them a lot cleaner than Simplicity will. I purchased lemon scented FMV, or For Maximum Value at my local Kroger for one dollar and a few cents, while at the same store I paid almost four dollars for a bottle of Simplicity, which in my opinion is simply a waste of money. I would recommend the FMV, For Maximum Value liquid dish detergent, as well as the Fabric Refresher with odor eliminators by Magic Power to anyone who is looking to save money on cleaning products, as both of theses mentioned generic products preform as well as the name brand competitors. I hope this multiple product review assists you in making an informed decision.
