A Review of the Fagor Halogen Convection Tabletop Cooker

Purchased from Overstock.Com

Since the spring and summer days have been so incredibly hot and humid, I just could not bear to turn on my oven unless absolutely necessary. After watching a cooking demonstration of the Fagor Halogen Convection Tabletop Cooker and after comparing prices and accessories with other brands of convection cookers, I decided to try the Fagor brand product.

This 12 quart capacity cooker came with two stackable cooking racks, a non-stick fry pan, tongs, an extender ring (which adds an additional 5 quarts capacity) as well as a lid support rack. Most other brands I considered did not include most of these accessories, although they could be purchased at an additional cost.

Ease of Use and Energy Efficient

I found the cooker to be very easy to use and very easy to clean afterward. By far, the best feature lies in the fact that this cooker will not heat up the kitchen which will prevent the A/C unit from working overtime to pull out additional cooking and baking heat.

Suitable for Many Cooking Methods

This type of cooker is great for so many types of foods and methods of cooking. You can bake, roast, broil, fry, steam, and grill in the Fagor cooker. Cakes turn out beautifully, and again, no added heat in the kitchen. Bacon cooking has always been a messy job, but not so in the Fagor cooker. Bacon turns out evenly browned and crispy without the greasy spatters all over the stovetop. Cleanup afterward is also a breeze.

You Can Use Standard Cooking and Baking Pans

Another nice feature of this cooker is that you can bake, broil or roast in any pan that you would typically use in your conventional oven. The only consideration is the size of the pan, since the cooker is round and not as large as a standard oven.

You Can Roast a Turkey or Bake a Ham

You can really keep an eye on your food as you peer through the 12 quart tempered glass bowl. For larger foods, such as turkey or ham, the stainless steel extender ring adds and additional 5 quarts of cooking space. Imagine cooking your Thanksgiving turkey in this cooker while using your conventional oven for all those other side dishes and desserts. All of your holiday meal can be prepared in one day instead of doing desserts the day before in order to have the oven available for the turkey or ham the next day.

Portable Cooker

The cooker is also portable and could be taken along for use in your travel trailer or even for use in a motel room or condominium while on vacation. Just be sure to follow all the safety recommendations when using the appliance.

The cost is always a consideration when I buy kitchen appliances. I want a quality product and the best price I can find. I have seen the Fagor Halogen Convection Cooker advertised at some stores for $120 and this price did not include all the accessories I received from Overstock.com. The price at Overstock was only $79.99, which is a terrific savings. The Fagor cooker cooks up to 50% faster and is up to 75% more energy efficient than the conventional oven.
